2015 recap & Happy New Year!

Category : Art, Updates

My 2015 recap! I probably should’ve posted this sooner but I didn’t really get a chance to! My week off has been busier than I thought it would be. I helped a friend get his website up, which by the way is up! He’s launching next week! Check it out! I have such talented friends! I’m so excited to see what he’s been doing the last year. :3

Also, you’ll notice my website layout is different and my portfolio is gone! I’m currently in the midst of revamping! Hoping to get my work up soon!

Anyway, I just wanted to reflect on last year. I have to say I wasn’t as productive as I wanted to be. I was working on a stressful project at work that affected me personally and mentally that made me really unmotivated for the first part of the year. I let my work life affect my personal life. I did sketch when I could, but I didn’t get my butt into gear until late this year after I transitioned into a new job in the summer.

It was about 3 months into my new job that I wanted to get more art done. My role right now is very heavy with UX and game design, so I’m documenting more than I am doing art. To compensate for the lack of art, I got myself doing inktober again. Unfortunately, I didn’t finish. Last two weeks I was in Japan! I wanted to continue while I was there, but of course I literally had NO time to do anything else. Our days were packed with walking and sightseeing. But, with the inktobers I did do, I was pretty proud of what I was doing. I really pushed myself this year with them and found I really enjoy drawing and inking on paper. I plan on continuing to do more ink drawings but I have so much on the agenda for next year…

After I came back from vacation, I pushed myself to do as much art as I could before the year ended. I managed to get about 15 pieces done (excluding sketches and studies) while working a full time job and of course, playing a lot of games. :3 I tend to spend a lot of time on my work, rendering and polishing for days. But I’m currently trying to find a style that is quicker to do.

I have some plans for 2016! Much more art and hopefully a personal project that I’m passionate about! I’m currently roughing out the ideas.. I just have to keep developing and execute it! Then I’m on my way! I’m also working on a really cool game at work and it should be released Fall 2016.. I’m excited to share what I’m working on with my work life as well! 🙂
